Job Description
What You’ll Do
You’re not here to babysit EC2 instances or write YAML for the sake of it. We’re looking for a Cloud Engineer who can architect, secure, and automate infrastructure that actually scales. You’ll work closely with our backend, data, and security teams to modernize how we build and deploy services across multi-cloud environments (AWS + GCP).
Your week might include:
- Designing and implementing secure, autoscaling infrastructure for new microservices using Terraform + Terragrunt.
- Replacing legacy Bash scripts with event-driven workflows using AWS Step Functions or GCP Workflows.
- Building out service mesh observability with Istio and Prometheus on EKS.
- Leading the migration of batch ETL jobs from EC2 to GKE Autopilot.
- Conducting postmortems for high-severity incidents and hardening the platform based on findings.
What You Bring
We don’t believe in checklists—but we do expect:
- Deep understanding of Terraform (not just editing someone else’s .tf files—writing modules from scratch).
- Experience architecting infrastructure in at least two major cloud providers (preferably AWS and GCP).
- Proficiency in container orchestration (EKS, GKE, or OpenShift), and understanding of when not to use Kubernetes.
- Solid grounding in networking (VPC peering, PrivateLink, hybrid connectivity, firewall rules, etc.).
- Experience with cloud-native monitoring/logging stacks (CloudWatch, Stackdriver, Prometheus, Loki, etc.).
- Ability to script in Python or Go for infrastructure automation and tooling (not just shell scripts).
- Familiarity with SOC 2, FedRAMP, or HIPAA compliance controls in cloud environments is a strong plus.
Bonus
- You’ve contributed to open-source infra projects or published blog posts about incident response, scaling, or cloud architecture decisions.
- You’ve handled production rollbacks at 2 AM and fixed things under pressure—and learned from it.
