Job Description

We’re looking for a Brand Identity Designer who can translate abstract positioning and messy stakeholder inputs into tight, distinctive visual systems. This is not a logo-in-a-box role — we want someone who obsesses over typography, understands the nuance of brand behavior across digital and physical touchpoints, and can scale a design language without watering it down. You’ll work closely with strategists, motion designers, and product teams to build identities that not only look sharp, but act sharp.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead concept development and execution of brand identity systems, from wordmarks and icons to full visual frameworks
  • Translate positioning and strategy documents into compelling visual directions
  • Build scalable design systems, not just style guides — think usage rules, motion behavior, interaction states, etc.
  • Collaborate with brand strategists to shape how a brand feels, not just how it looks
  • Design with implementation in mind — from packaging and decks to UI mockups and merch
  • Present concepts to clients and internal stakeholders with clear rationale and storytelling
  • Push ideas beyond what was asked for when it’s right to do so

Qualifications

  • 4–7 years of experience in brand design or identity development, preferably in an agency or studio setting
  • A portfolio that shows more than polish — we want to see systems thinking, visual range, and strategic alignment
  • Advanced understanding of type, color theory, hierarchy, and responsive design principles
  • Familiarity with how brands live across platforms (print, digital, motion, environment)
  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills (especially Illustrator, InDesign), with bonus points for Figma and After Effects
  • Ability to interpret and evolve feedback without diluting the core idea
  • Comfort working within ambiguity and shaping structure from scratch
  • A point of view on what makes a good identity — and the ability to articulate it clearly

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing brand identity for tech, cultural, or editorial brands
  • Comfort working with motion or collaborating closely with motion designers
  • Familiarity with naming, tone-of-voice, or verbal identity projects
