Job Description

Overview:

We’re seeking a concept-driven, execution-obsessed Art Director who thinks in stories, moves in layers, and leads with taste. You should have a proven track record of translating strategic direction into visual campaigns that are culturally intelligent, emotionally resonant, and executed with surgical precision. This is not a role for someone looking to “manage creatives” — this is a leadership position for someone who still creates, iterates, and refines.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with copywriters, strategists, and producers to shape brand narratives across digital, social, experiential, and motion platforms.
  • Translate briefs into compelling visual ideas, then lead teams through concept development, design, and final delivery.
  • Direct photo and video shoots with a clear visual POV, collaborating with cinematographers, stylists, and editors to ensure continuity of brand and concept.
  • Elevate junior designers and freelancers by giving meaningful, actionable critique — not vague praise or aesthetic opinions.
  • Defend creative decisions to internal stakeholders and external clients without relying on jargon.
  • Ensure every output (from pitch decks to TikToks to 360° campaigns) meets or exceeds internal design standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in creative roles, with at least 3 years in a senior or directorial position.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a distinct visual voice across multiple mediums — must include campaign work, motion references, and at least one brand identity system.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Notion. Bonus for working knowledge of After Effects or 3D workflows.
  • Experience directing both motion and still content — including the ability to brief storyboards and build shot lists that communicate both narrative and brand needs.
  • Deep understanding of typography, composition, spatial systems, and how to use constraint as a creative tool.
  • Has shipped work in at least three of the following sectors: fashion, editorial, tech, entertainment, or hospitality.
  • Comfortable navigating projects that are part content, part commerce, part culture — and unafraid of ambiguity.
  • Can speak to the why behind design decisions with confidence and clarity, especially when challenged.

Bonus (but not required):

  • Experience with generative design tools or AI-assisted creative workflows.
  • Background in photography, motion graphics, or spatial/environmental design.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
