Job Description
We’re looking for an Art Director who thinks in systems, not just visuals. This role sits at the intersection of brand storytelling and digital experience—where creative isn’t just about polish, it’s about purpose. You’ll lead concept development, direct cross-functional creative teams, and guide the visual output across campaigns, digital platforms, and content experiences. If you’re as comfortable sketching the bones of a visual identity as you are art directing a photo shoot or launching a new microsite, you’ll feel at home here. We’re not looking for someone to “own the brand”—we want someone who can evolve it, challenge it, and help others use it better.
What You’ll Do
You’ll lead concept-driven visual storytelling across brand campaigns, product launches, and digital experiences. Your focus won’t be on simply “making things pretty”—you’ll turn business objectives into visual systems that resonate. Working alongside copywriters, strategists, and product designers, you’ll shape creative that earns attention and drives engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute visual narratives that span integrated campaigns, identity systems, and UI design.
- Direct creative from idea to execution—including moodboards, comps, styleframes, and live deliverables.
- Manage the quality and coherence of visual output across platforms—landing pages, social, motion, packaging, and OOH.
- Translate ambiguous briefs into precise design direction; you know how to defend your ideas with rationale, not just references.
- Mentor junior designers, providing constructive critique and hands-on guidance—your feedback builds confidence, not confusion.
- Partner with Strategy and Product Marketing to align on audience insights, messaging hierarchy, and conversion objectives.
- Own vendor relationships (photographers, retouchers, motion teams) and oversee post-production to ensure delivery hits the mark.
- Review work with a perfectionist’s eye for layout, typography, composition, and brand consistency—but you also know when “good enough” is best.
You’re a Fit If You Have
- 6+ years of experience in a creative agency or in-house brand studio, at least 2 years in an Art Director role.
- A portfolio that shows strong campaign thinking, identity systems, and creative range—not just polished aesthetics.
- Deep knowledge of digital design systems, especially Figma and Adobe CC; After Effects or motion experience is a plus.
- An ability to brief, inspire, and critique photography and video—on-set experience is a strong plus.
- Experience working within fast-moving product or marketing environments—you thrive under creative constraint.
- Communication skills that go beyond “this looks better”—you articulate why it works, and you do it without ego.
Bonus If You Have
- Experience with brand evolutions or rebrands, not just campaigns.
- Familiarity with accessibility principles in design.
- Worked with B2B or mission-driven companies and know how to add warmth or edge without losing clarity.
- Some familiarity with generative tools like Midjourney or Runway—not required, but we’re curious if you are.
