Job Description
We’re looking for an Art Director who thrives in storytelling through design, leading visual narratives that resonate deeply with audiences across digital and print platforms. This role is for someone who doesn’t just “make it look good” — you think conceptually, collaborate intentionally, and push beyond templates to build visual worlds that carry meaning. You’ll work closely with our copywriters, brand strategists, and creative producers to develop campaign identities, direct photoshoots, and shape the design language for emerging and established brands.
This isn’t a position for someone who’s still figuring out Photoshop layer masks — we need someone who can direct junior designers, challenge a brief (respectfully), and guide a creative process from whiteboard to launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate strategic briefs into bold visual directions that drive engagement and clarity across platforms
- Lead ideation and visual development for multi-channel campaigns, including digital, print, experiential, and social
- Provide clear creative direction to designers, illustrators, photographers, and freelancers throughout production
- Collaborate with copywriters to align tone and visuals into one cohesive message
- Create and present mood boards, style frames, and mockups to clients and internal stakeholders with rationale grounded in strategy
- Conduct art direction for photoshoots and video productions — from casting and styling to framing and post-production guidance
- Oversee brand identity systems and ensure consistency in execution without compromising creativity
- Provide hands-on design support when needed, especially during key campaign milestones
- Review and give actionable feedback on creative deliverables to maintain high-quality output
Qualifications
- 6+ years in a creative role with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior capacity (agency or in-house brand experience preferred)
- Strong portfolio that shows depth in brand development, campaign work, and cross-platform execution (not just static visuals — show us your thought process)
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and comfortable directing motion or 3D work even if you’re not executing it yourself
- Demonstrated experience directing photoshoots, collaborating with photographers, and working with production teams
- Exceptional visual taste with the ability to design within — and beyond — brand guidelines
- Comfortable giving and receiving critique, mentoring junior creatives, and fostering a collaborative environment
- Solid understanding of current visual culture, from emerging design trends to niche internet aesthetics
- Ability to balance creative excellence with deadlines, budgets, and client expectations
