Job Description

About the Role

We’re seeking an Art Director who lives at the intersection of concept and craft—someone who can turn strategy into story and story into visuals that stop the scroll. This isn’t about vague “creativity” or moodboarding from Pinterest. It’s about building distinct visual systems for campaigns, launching new product identities from scratch, and directing shoots that feel like they belong in print and on TikTok. You’ll lead a small, senior team of designers and freelancers, collaborating closely with editorial, growth, and product marketing.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead concept development for multi-channel brand campaigns—from pitch to production—ensuring they ladder up to brand goals without losing personality.
  • Build and evolve visual languages for product launches, brand moments, and seasonal campaigns (motion, typography, layout, styling direction).
  • Collaborate with copywriters to ensure that tone and visuals tell one cohesive story, not two parallel ones.
  • Direct shoots for photo and video (studio and lifestyle), with an eye for casting, framing, prop styling, and composition that suits both paid and organic channels.
  • Push static design into motion by working with animators or designing modular systems that move.
  • Review and elevate deliverables from in-house designers and freelancers—offering feedback that’s both directional and specific.
  • Partner with Strategy and Product Marketing to translate briefs into something more interesting than “a better banner.”

What You Bring

  • 6–8 years of experience in brand design, creative direction, or agency art direction roles, including time spent leading conceptual work and managing teams.
  • A portfolio that shows more than polish—tell us why it was made that way, who it was for, and what made it different.
  • Experience directing content across formats: still, motion, product, and social. Bonus for previous work on influencer-led or UGC-style campaigns that still felt premium.
  • Ability to articulate design rationale, push back constructively, and defend good ideas without ego.
  • Comfort switching between high-level concepting and hands-on execution.
  • A point of view about what makes design feel current—and when it’s okay not to care about what’s current.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience working with or within consumer brands (DTC, beauty, CPG, or editorial fields).
  • Familiarity with motion tools or an understanding of how to brief and guide motion designers.
  • An interest in helping build a team culture that values irreverence, detail, and clarity over perfection.
