Job Description

We’re seeking an Animator who thrives on storytelling through motion. At the core of this role is a strong grasp of timing, movement, and emotion—not just technical proficiency. You’ll be responsible for creating character-driven animations for short-form narrative content and interactive experiences. This isn’t a pixel-pushing role. We want someone who can take a storyboard or audio track and elevate it—add nuance, weight, and rhythm. If you know how to make a scene feel right with movement alone, you’re who we want.

We value animators who can see the frame as a stage, not a canvas. Your work should reflect attention to gesture, posture, anticipation, and even restraint. You’ll collaborate directly with our writers, designers, and sound team to develop motion that supports character and story—never just decoration.

Responsibilities:

• Animate 2D or 2.5D character scenes for story-driven content, with emphasis on expression and gesture.
• Translate scripts and storyboards into nuanced animated sequences that emphasize emotion, pacing, and clarity.
• Interpret voiceover and sound design to inform timing, action, and comedic/dramatic beats.
• Collaborate with the art team to ensure style consistency and visual cohesion.
• Suggest staging and visual storytelling techniques to enhance narrative impact.
• Revise and refine animation based on detailed creative feedback.
• Maintain organized project files and communicate status clearly in production pipelines.

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of professional animation experience, preferably in narrative or character-driven content.
• Proficiency in Adobe After Effects (puppet rigging and scene composition), Photoshop, and/or Toon Boom Harmony.
• Strong grasp of animation principles, especially timing, squash and stretch, arcs, and staging.
• Portfolio that demonstrates expressive character work—not just movement, but emotion.
• Ability to interpret storyboards and bring them to life through clear visual storytelling.
• Experience syncing animation with audio cues (dialogue, music, ambient).
• Understanding of comedic timing, dramatic tension, and visual rhythm.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Lip Sync animation and handling full dialogue scenes.
• Familiarity with frame-by-frame (hand-drawn) workflows is a plus, even if your main tools are rig-based.
• Previous work in interactive media, explainer videos, or animated series.
• Comfortable navigating quick turnarounds while maintaining fidelity to performance.

Bonus Points If You:

• Can break down an action into key poses in under 5 minutes.
• Have a working knowledge of audio editing or sound timing tools.
• Have ever animated a moment that made someone laugh—or cry—on the first watch.
