About the Role

We’re looking for an Animator who can translate narrative and abstract ideas into motion that feels. If you can make a still object breathe, give weight to a floating idea, and your first instinct when given a script is to sketch out timing on index cards—read on.

This role isn’t for generalists—we’re seeking someone obsessed with timing, pacing, and the psychology of movement. Your toolkit includes principles like anticipation, squash & stretch, and follow-through, but you know when to break the rules to push a concept further.

Key Responsibilities

  • Animate 2D and 3D assets for branded content, explainers, and character-driven shorts (usually under 90 seconds).
  • Collaborate with illustrators, writers, and sound designers from ideation to final delivery—expect to contribute more than just movement.
  • Build custom rigs in After Effects (Duik or Rubberhose), Blender, or other relevant tools to improve animation efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Break down scripts into animated storybeats and present animatics before committing to full production.
  • Handle feedback without ego and explain animation choices with clarity—especially to stakeholders without motion design knowledge.
  • Occasionally direct external freelancers or small teams when multiple animation tracks are in play.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in animation with a portfolio that includes emotionally expressive work, not just technically sound reels.
  • Advanced proficiency in After Effects (expressions are a plus), Premiere Pro, and at least one 3D package (e.g., Blender, C4D, Maya).
  • Demonstrable understanding of the 12 principles of animation—and ability to subvert them creatively.
  • Comfortable animating characters, typography, UI sequences, and abstract concepts with equal polish.
  • Bonus: Experience with frame-by-frame techniques (TVPaint, RoughAnimator) and integrating animation into interactive environments (Lottie, WebGL).
