Job Description
This is a genuinely rare brief: real commercial agriculture, real budget, real autonomy, and a green light to build something from the ground up.
What you’ll actually be doing
- Building and deploying AI/ML models to interpret drone imagery — counting cattle, tracking herd movement and location, and flagging animal welfare or paddock issues
- Using image analysis to identify maintenance issues across fencing, water infrastructure, and other station assets before they become expensive problems
- Managing and optimising our drone-in-a-box operation — flight scheduling, geofencing, data capture routines
- Turning raw model outputs into clear, usable reporting via Power BI — dashboards that operations and management actually use, not just look at once
- Project-leading the rollout of this technology on-site — working closely with station operations, refining the system as real-world conditions demand
- Acting as the bridge between cutting-edge AI/drone capability and a hands-on agricultural operation that runs on outcomes, not hype
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated experience in AI/ML, particularly computer vision or image analysis
- Power BI experience — able to build reporting that’s clear enough for a station manager and detailed enough for leadership
- Understanding of geofencing and drone data workflows (drone-in-a-box experience highly regarded)
- Someone who can project-lead — you’ll own this, not just contribute to it
- Comfortable working autonomously and adapting models to messy, real-world rural conditions (not clean lab data)
- Genuine interest in agtech — bonus points if you’ve worked on ag, mining, or other remote-operations problems before
