Software Engineer
Job Description
We’re looking for someone team-focused who likes solving problems with Python, Java, React, JavaScript, SQL and open-source tooling. You’ll use AI as part of day-to-day delivery, collaborate closely with other engineering teams on the Jacobi platform, and help bring proprietary quantitative models into production. In the role, you will:
- Contribute to Jacobi’s core platform by building and maintaining production features used by institutional investment teams.
- Architect and implement solutions to custom requirements for key clients
- Collaborate with a global expert team across Brisbane, London, and San Francisco
- Get exposure to a broad range of leading edge technologies

Must have:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Software Engineering)
- 0-3 years experience in software development
- Proficiency in Java and Python with strong software development best practices
- Experience interacting with REST APIs
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced start-up environment
- Curious with a passion for learning
Nice to have:
- JavaScript, TypeScript and/or React experience
- Databricks and Apache Spark experience
- Prior experience in client-facing roles and client engagement
- Knowledge and use of Git
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferably) and IaC tools (e.g. Terraform)
- Study, experience or knowledge in economics or finance
