Job Description

Your mission

As a Product Engineer at Bisly, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the services that power our smart building ecosystem. You’ll develop the house server platform that controls various systems and integrations within an intelligent building, enabling seamless data flow and automation across thousands of connected devices while ensuring reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend services in C++ and Rust.
  • Evaluate, integrate, deploy, and optimize AI tool and services to support product innovation and business needs.
  • Take technical ownership of projects and contribute to architecture planning.
  • Develop and deploy robust software for cloud and local environments.
  • Define and implement data strategy and synchronization between systems.
  • Optimize system performance and debug complex issues (memory, concurrency, I/O).
  • Design and develop APIs for local and cloud-based services.
  • Lead by example in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Contribute to team practices, mentoring, and engineering culture as we scale.

To succeed in this role, you’ll have

  • 4+ years of professional experience in backend or systems programming.
  • Proficiency in C++ or Rust.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, network protocols, and asynchronous runtimes.
  • Experience with database engines (MariaDB, Postgres, NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and on-premise/local server environments.
  • Proven ability to write clean, scalable, and well-tested code.
  • Solid knowledge of software development principles (OOP, design patterns, Agile).
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST, gRPC, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience working with AI technologies, including integrating, deploying, or building AI-powered systems and services.
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, collaborative teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong debugging skills and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, particularly when working with large, pre-existing codebases.
