Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and improve nesting strategies for Turret Punching and Laser Cutting to minimize scrap rates and optimize sheet metal utilization.
  • Optimize the sequence and parameters for Polishing and Flattening to reduce manual labor and ensure parts are perfectly prepped for joining.
  • Refine Welding (TIG/MIG/Spot) and Riveting parameters to increase structural integrity while reducing thermal distortion and assembly cycle times.
  • Lead and maintain the Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) for the NCT department, identifying risks such as material warping, welding cracks, or riveting misalignments.
  • Create and standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and tool setup sheets for all fabrication stations to ensure consistent operator performance.
  • Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECN) for fabrication processes, ensuring that changes in drawing versions are accurately reflected in punching programs and welding jigs.
  • Provide technical feedback to the design team to simplify fabrication—such as suggesting hole placements that prevent sheet deformation or designing for easier welding access.
  • Design and improve specialized jigs for welding and riveting to ensure high repeatability and faster setup changeovers (SMED).
  • Lead pilot runs and trials for new products, establishing the “Master Process” before full-scale handover to the NCT Production team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum in Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the sheet metal fabrication industry.
  • Strong background in Nesting software (e.g., AP100, Dr. ABE) and CNC Laser / Punching logic.
  • Good understanding of Welding metallurgy and hardware installation (Riveting / Clinched fasteners).
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal properties (Mild Steel, Stainless, Aluminum, Copper) and Lean Manufacturing tools (Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
  • Willing to commit overtime when required.
