Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated Data Analyst with strong Power BI expertise, exceptional SQL skills and strong analytical instincts. This role focuses on transforming raw data into scalable dashboards, semantic models and actionable insights using Power BI and modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric.

This role blends data analysis, dashboard development, data modeling and analytical code generation. You will work across the analytics lifecycle; from exploratory data analysis to building production-ready dashboards and supporting reporting solutions.

You will be trusted to independently explore data, create analytical approaches and deliver insights end to end. Strong self-learners who are comfortable working with new tools (including AI copilots) and modern BI platforms are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Power BI Dashboard & Reporting Development

  • Design, develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that drive business decisions
  • Build and support self-service datasets and semantic models in Power BI
  • Analyze and translate business requirements into clear, user-friendly visualizations
  • Assist in modernizing legacy reports (e.g., SSRS) into Power BI / Microsoft Fabric environments
  • Ensure dashboards are optimized for performance, usability and scalability

Data Analysis & SQL

  • Write complex, high-performance SQL queries (CTEs, window functions, joins, tuning)
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, anomalies and opportunities
  • Validate data accuracy, troubleshoot discrepancies and identify root causes
  • Work with structured and semi-structured data from databases and data lake environments

Data Modeling & BI Best Practices

  • Develop and maintain Power BI data models, including relationships, measures and calculated fields (DAX)
  • Apply best-practice data modeling principles to support reporting and self-service analytics
  • Support creation of data marts, reporting layers and reusable datasets
  • Assist in optimizing data models and queries for large datasets

Documentation & Governance

  • Create and maintain metadata, data definitions, report documentation and workflows
  • Support data lineage and traceability efforts
  • Follow established data governance and reporting standards

Collaboration & Insights Delivery

  • Partner with product, engineering and business teams to understand requirements and deliver insights
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Take ownership of problem solving from initial question through final recommendation

Modern Analytics & Tools

  • Generate analytical code (SQL, Python, notebooks) efficiently, including leveraging AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.)
  • Continuously improve dashboards, queries and analytical workflows
  • Adapt quickly to evolving BI tools, including Microsoft Fabric and Power BI ecosystem

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, or a related field preferred, plus 1–3 years of relevant experience (including work, bootcamps, certifications, or independent projects)
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational/non-relational databases
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI (dashboarding, data modeling, DAX)
  • Experience building and maintaining reports and dashboards used by business stakeholders
  • Familiarity with data visualization best practices and storytelling
  • Strong communication skills, including explaining insights to non-technical audiences
