About the Role

A DevOps Cloud Engineer vacancy has become available within our Infrastructure team, that is responsible for the analysis, development, engagement and management of information systems and technology resources to implement, support, and enhance corporate claims management and technology requirements across the enterprise. 

We are seeking a highly capable AWS focussed DevOps Cloud Engineer to play a pivotal role in supporting and evolving our cloud platforms as we transition from project delivery into stable, business-as-usual operations 

This role is critical to ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our AWS environments, supporting regulated workloads and key client obligations while reducing reliance on external contractors and single points of failure. 

You will be responsible for advancing DevOps practices, strengthening operational resilience, and enabling continuous delivery across a growing cloud estate. 

Key to this role is strong domain knowledge of AWS cloud services, working knowledge of current IT and systems technologies and standards to meet the needs of the business and our clients.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Designing, implementing, and maintainingĀ AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principlesĀ 
  • Building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines to support secure, reliable deploymentsĀ 
  • Monitoring andĀ maintainingĀ platform performance, availability, and securityĀ 
  • Automating operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventionĀ 
  • Supporting incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvementĀ 
  • Collaborating with architecture, security, and application teams to deliver scalable solutionsĀ 
  • Ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements for government and enterprise workloadsĀ 
  • Contributing to capacity planning, cost optimisation, and cloud governanceĀ 

About you

The following prerequisites will be essential to your success:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (especiallyĀ Fargate,Ā EC2,Ā ALB,Ā VPC, IAM, RDS,Ā CloudWatch,Ā andĀ Lambda)Ā 
  • Proven experience working in aĀ git drivenĀ DevOps environment with automation and continuous delivery practicesĀ 
  • ExpertiseĀ in Infrastructure as CodeĀ practices using TerraformĀ 
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, particularly Bitbucket Pipelines andĀ JenkinsĀ 
  • Experience with containerisation (Fargate/Docker)Ā 
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Windows systems administrationĀ 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability and practical experience with debugging and optimising code, as well as automationĀ 

Desirable experience will include:

  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies using CloudWatch and SplunkĀ 
  • Experience supporting regulated environments (e.g., government, insurance, financial services)Ā 
  • Exposure to multi-region or hybrid cloud environmentsĀ (AWS and Azure)Ā 
  • Knowledge of networking, identity, and security architectures in cloudĀ
