Backend Software Engineer

Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs supporting real-time payment processing systems
• Develop high-throughput, low-latency applications designed for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Contribute to modern microservices and distributed system architectures within a high-growth fintech environment
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices
• Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Improve system resilience, monitoring, observability, and fault tolerance across backend platforms
• Contribute to unit, integration, and end-to-end testing to ensure high-quality engineering outcomes
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Support secure coding practices and compliance with industry standards including PCI-DSS
• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, DevSecOps, and Engineering teams to deliver features end-to-end
• Contribute to agile delivery processes while learning from and working alongside experienced engineers

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years’ experience in backend software engineering
• Experience with Java, Kotlin, Node.js, TypeScript, or Python
• Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Knowledge of databases, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Exposure to Kafka, message queues, or event-driven systems highly regarded
• Fintech, payments, banking, or high-scale platform experience is desirable
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
