Job Description

The role

  • Rebuilding and modernising data pipelines as part of a move to Microsoft Fabric
  • Designing and maintaining data models aligned to reporting (star schema, dimensional models)
  • Creating structured, reusable datasets for Power BI
  • Working with business teams to translate requirements into usable data solutions
  • Handling data transformation and wrangling using SQL and Python
  • Improving performance and reliability of existing pipelines
  • Implementing data quality checks and validation processes
  • Supporting Power BI datasets and semantic models where needed
  • Reducing manual reporting through automation across the Microsoft stack
  • Maintaining documentation across pipelines, models, and business logic

What they’re looking for

  • Strong SQL, comfortable with complex queries and optimisation
  • Solid Python for data transformation and automation
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and data models
  • Good understanding of how data is structured for reporting and analytics
  • Experience working in a cloud environment, ideally Microsoft-led
  • Ability to build something scalable rather than working around legacy issues
  • Comfortable working directly with stakeholders across the business
  • Experience in insurance or financial services helps, but isn’t essential.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or Power BI semantic models is useful, but not required.
