Job Description

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing

As a Software Engineer, Backend, you’ll be a key player in building the robust foundation of our groundbreaking platform. You will:

  • Craft elegant data bridges. Build services that coalesce diverse third party schemas while absorbing schema drift, partial outages, and every quirky edge-case with composure.
  • Build resilient, performant data syncs. Craft back-pressure-aware pipelines that respect flaky networks and strict rate limits while still achieving near-real-time freshness.
  • Collaborate across disciplines. Pair with ML researchers, product managers, and fellow platform engineers to design contracts that are clear, composable, and future-proof.
  • Raise the bar. Champion code quality, testing strategy, and sustainable operational practices that make on-call a non-event.

Required Qualifications

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • You’re well-versed in object-oriented design and familiar with functional programming principles.
  • You are proficient in relational database technologies, modern Python, and concurrency models.
  • Hands-on knowledge of AWS (or another hyperscaler), containerization, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS).
  • Familiarity with modern auth standards (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML) and secret management.
  • Experience designing and operating production-grade backend services that integrate with third-party REST or gRPC APIs.
  • You are a strong communicator, eager collaborator, and self-starting problem solver, eager to learn alongside a team of world class ML researchers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You are interested in language and economics.
  • You have worked in single-tenant architectures.
  • You’ve implemented change-data-capture or delta-sync patterns at scale.
  • You’re comfortable with data-engineering concepts (Parquet, Protobuf, streaming queues, Airflow/Prefect).
  • You are motivated by having high impact and the growth that comes from moving quickly and adapting to an emerging product landscape.
  • You’ve wrangled rate-limited or eventually consistent partner APIs and built clever ways to maintain synchronicity within the rules.
