Your new role

As a Cloud Services Engineer, you will play a key role within an Infrastructure Services team, providing technical leadership across cloud platforms and services. You will contribute to cloud strategy, solution design, service enhancement, and operational support, ensuring cloud services are secure, resilient, and aligned with whole‑of‑government architecture and security standards.This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong stakeholder engagement, technical depth, and the ability to lead by example.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in the design, deployment, and support of cloud services and applications.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and the development of new or enhanced cloud‑based services.
• Design, implement, and review cloud infrastructure and system architectures.
• Support incident management, including complex troubleshooting, system recovery, and escalation coordination.
• Mentor and support infrastructure team members, promoting a collaborative and customer‑focused culture.
• Develop and implement operational processes, procedures, and standards.
• Provide expert advice on emerging cloud technologies, trends, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with government security, architecture, and change management standards.
• Contribute to change impact analysis, implementation planning, and rollback strategies.

What you’ll need to succeed

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Strong experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
• Proven expertise in Azure infrastructure, identity (Azure AD / Active Directory), Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, and core infrastructure services.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 services including Teams, OneDrive, and Endpoint Manager.
• Strong background in server, virtualisation, and storage technologies.
• Experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud systems and services.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, managing priorities and deadlines effectively.

Desirable:

• Vendor‑recognised cloud certifications.
• Experience working in DevSecOps environments.
• Linux virtual machine support in cloud environments.
• Experience with cloud‑hosted relational databases.
