Your new role
This role requires a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and maintain enterprise‑grade data solutions that make data accessible, trusted, and usable for reporting, analytics, and operational needs.
The position is responsible for delivering integrated data pipelines across on‑premises and cloud environments, developing consolidated data models to support enterprise‑wide reporting, and contributing to the delivery of modern data warehouse and analytics platforms.
The role also plays a key part in supporting cloud migration and operational uplift, including transitioning data and business‑as‑usual processes, improving workflows, and producing documentation to support sustainable operations. Acting as a technical authority, the position contributes to data engineering standards, governance, and best practice across complex programs of work.
- Design and deliver data pipelines that integrate data across on‑premises and cloud platforms to improve reporting, consistency and accessibility.
- Develop and maintain trusted, consolidated data models to support enterprise reporting and analytics, with appropriate governance and change controls.
- Act as a data engineering subject-matter expert supporting system integration and reporting platform delivery in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Lead and support the migration of data pipelines and operational processes to cloud environments, uplifting workflows and supporting handover to BAU teams.
- Provide technical leadership across data engineering practices, ensuring solutions align with agreed architectures, standards and security requirements.
What you’ll need to succeedEssential Criteria
- Data engineering: Level 6 (SFIA)
Leads the selection and development of data engineering methods, tools and techniques. Develops organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for the development and secure operation of data services and products. Ensures adherence to technical strategies and architectures. Plans and leads data engineering activities for strategic, large and complex programmes. - Data integrity and quality assurance: Level 3 (DCF)It is an expert resource in the use of measures for data quality assurance, the interaction of those measures, and their application in conjunction with one another Can advise others on the use of data quality measures to make accurate assessments of data fitness – for purpose (including trustworthiness and accuracy). Is an expert resource on ensuring data integrity across its lifecycle, and advises others.
- Data modelling and design: Level 5 (SFIA)Sets standards for data modelling and design tools and techniques, advises on their application and ensures compliance. Manages the investigation of enterprise data requirements based upon a detailed understanding of information requirements. Coordinates the application of analysis, design and modelling techniques to establish, modify or maintain data structures and their associated components. Manages the iteration, review and maintenance of data requirements and data model
- Integrate data: Level 3 (DCF)Can perform and provide expert advice on data integration. Can build the capability of others in understanding and applying good data integration practice and principles. Can write custom scripts and code to integrate data. Maintains understanding of new trends and innovations relating to integrating data (including AI).
