Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Power BI expert to own the end-to-end development of our analytics portal. You will be the technical engine behind our data delivery—transforming raw data into high-impact, intuitive dashboards that our leadership relies on to make critical decisions.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:

– Dashboard Development: Build and maintain multi-level Power BI dashboards using reusable templates to ensure a fast, consistent rollout.

– The ‘Engine Room’: Write complex DAX measures and develop robust data models (Star/Snowflake schemas) that remain performant as data scales.

– Data Wrangling: Leverage Power Query and Python to automate data cleaning and transformation, reducing manual work and increasing reliability.

– Connectivity: Build and manage data integrations across various sources, including SQL databases, REST APIs, and MS Office/SharePoint files.

– Portal Management: Oversee the Power BI workspace, manage user permissions, and ensure datasets are refreshed, documented, and accurate.

– Quality & Standards: Ensure every dashboard follows standards and UX best practices—it needs to be as easy to use as it is accurate.

– Agile Execution: Work in iterative cycles, delivering value quickly and refining based on stakeholder feedback in an Agile mindset.

Key Skills & Experience:

– The Track Record: 5+ years of professional experience dedicated to the Microsoft Power BI ecosystem.

– Technical Depth: Proven ability to handle the ‘plumbing’ of BI—writing advanced DAX, managing filter context, and optimizing large datasets.

– Automation Skills: Practical experience using Python (Pandas/NumPy) for data manipulation or ETL tasks that go beyond standard Power Query capabilities.

– Database Literacy: Strong SQL skills for querying, joining, and validating data at the source.

– Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with PMO metrics or working within financial frameworks (reporting on health, schedule, and budget).

– Design Eye: A portfolio or examples of work showing a ‘user-first’ approach—clean layouts, intuitive navigation, and consistent branding.

Technical Toolkit:

– Power BI Mastery: You know DAX and Power Query inside out.

– Coding: Proficient in Python for data automation and scripting.

– Database: Comfortable writing SQL to pull and join data.

– Mindset: An Agile approach—you prefer shipping iterative updates over waiting for ‘perfection.’
