Backend Developer

Your new role

In this senior engineering position, you will play a key role in the architectural design, system integration, and cloud development of enterprise systems built on modern .NET and Azure technologies. You will work closely with architects, product owners, analysts, and DevOps specialists to deliver robust, secure, and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

• Design backend systems using Clean Architecture and DDD principles
• Define domains, aggregates, bounded contexts, and domain services
• Lead technical design reviews and drive architectural decisions
• Ensure high maintainability, testability, and separation of concerns

Azure & DevOps

• Build cloud-native solutions using:
  • Azure App Services
  • Azure Functions
  • Service Bus / Event Grid
  • Azure SQL or Cosmos DB
  • Azure Blob/Table Storage
  • Azure Key Vault
• Build and manage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines (YAML)
• Ensure secure and compliant cloud development practices

System Integration

• Design RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and message-based integrations
• Implement authentication/authorization via OAuth2, JWT, and Entra ID
• Ensure system reliability, observability, and resilience
• Integrate with internal and third-party platforms

Data & Analysis

• Perform backend data modelling and database optimisation
• Analyse data flows and ensure integrity across distributed systems
• Support analytics and performance optimisation activities

Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements

• Translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in workshops, backlog refinement, and sprint ceremonies
• Work closely with product owners, business analysts, and SMEs
• Provide clear technical guidance to non-technical stakeholders

What you’ll need to succeed

Required Technical Skills

• 5+ years backend engineering experience
• Strong expertise in .NET 6/7/8, C#, Web API
• Deep understanding of:
  • Clean Architecture
  • SOLID principles
  • Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Strong cloud experience across Azure App Services, Functions, DevOps, SQL/Cosmos
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices
• Secure API development (OAuth2, JWT, Entra ID)
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills
• Unit and integration testing experience (xUnit/NUnit/MSTest)
