System and Database Engineer

Job Description

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in enterprise-level open-source systems administration
• 2+ years of experience in designing, configuring, and installing web platforms
• 1+ year of hands-on experience with MySQL, MariaDB, or Percona database administration
• Experience with virtualisation and container technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, LXC, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong command-line skills (awk, sed, while, for, tr, etc.)
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and load balancing (e.g., nginx, haproxy,LVS)
• Proven experience in Linux system tuning and MySQL database optimisation
• Good knowledge of SQL (query language, schema design, indexing)
• Experience working with high-availability platforms
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python)
• Experience using version control systems in a team environment

Bonus Points

• Experience with other databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch,or Solr
• Knowledge of additional programming languages (Python, Go, Node.js, Ruby)
• Experience with build automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Travis CI)
• Familiarity with caching and queuing technologies (e.g., Memcache, Redis, Gearman, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ,Kafka)
• Contributions to open-source projects
• Experience with monitoring and visualisation tools or libraries (e.g., Graphite, Grafana, Graylog,Kibana)
