Java API Developer

Job Description

Role Overview
You will be responsible for building and maintaining high-quality APIs and microservices that enable critical banking applications and digital channels. Working closely with architects, front-end engineers, and platform teams, you will contribute to resilient, cloud-ready solutions aligned to enterprise standards, security controls, and performance expectations.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support Java-based REST APIs and microservices
• Build scalable services using Spring / Spring Boot and modern Java (8+) features
• Collaborate with frontend and integration teams to enable seamless system communication
• Contribute to API documentation, security, and performance optimisation
• Participate in Agile delivery, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot in enterprise environments
• Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Experience with API testing and documentation tools (Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI)
• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB)
• Exposure to cloud-native and containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
• CI/CD experience using tools such as Git, Jenkins, or similar
• Front-end exposure (React, JavaScript, Node.js) is advantageous but not essential
