Job Description

Role Overview

We’re looking for a technically adept and detail-obsessed Webmaster who will take full ownership of our web ecosystem—not just maintenance. You will manage, troubleshoot, and optimize our websites (Drupal and WordPress-based), coordinate cross-functional web requests, and act as the final gatekeeper for publishing anything to our live environment. You’re not just a developer, not just a content manager—you are the architecture’s steward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize our multi-domain web presence (primarily Drupal 10, WordPress 6.x), ensuring 99.99% uptime, clean code, and fast page load times.
  • Own and enforce our internal web governance protocols, including URL conventions, accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA), and publishing workflows.
  • Lead patching and upgrade schedules for CMS platforms, PHP versions, and related libraries—with full regression testing before deployment.
  • Configure and monitor uptime, security, and usage analytics tools (e.g., New Relic, Cloudflare, Screaming Frog, Matomo).
  • Coordinate with legal, content, and security teams for cookie compliance, GDPR tagging, and web data retention.
  • Serve as primary admin for our web hosting control panel (Pantheon) and CDN configurations.
  • Execute redirect strategy for restructured or sunset content—handling broken links and SEO degradation proactively.
  • Oversee staging-to-production deployment processes, resolving conflicts and enforcing version control policies.
  • Create and maintain documentation for site architecture, admin-level CMS use, and 3rd-party tool integrations (e.g., Marketo, Salesforce Web-to-Lead, Disqus).
  • Field urgent internal web requests—often requiring high-judgment decisions about what gets published when and why.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing medium to large websites (10K+ pages) on both Drupal and WordPress platforms.
  • Strong command of HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript—plus familiarity with Twig and PHP in a CMS context.
  • Experience with DNS and domain management (e.g., setting SPF/DKIM records, redirecting domains, configuring SSL certs).
  • Proven ability to work in Git-based workflows with dev/stage/prod environments and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with security headers, bot mitigation techniques, and vulnerability remediation practices (e.g., Sucuri, OWASP).
  • Ability to QA web experiences across devices and browsers using tools like BrowserStack and Axe DevTools.
  • Excellent written documentation skills—able to explain complex logic to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating with headless CMS architecture or decoupled front-end setups.
  • Working knowledge of web performance tuning tools (Lighthouse, GTmetrix, WebPageTest).
  • Prior experience implementing structured data for SEO (JSON-LD, schema.org).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices in a web production context.
