Job Description

We’re hiring a Web Engineer who thrives at the intersection of high-performance frontend systems and real-time interactivity. This role is ideal for someone who’s not just building pages—but architecting fast, resilient user experiences that respond instantly and adapt dynamically. You’ll work on complex client-side state management, streaming APIs, and frontend rendering optimizations across browsers and devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement interactive features using streaming data from GraphQL subscriptions and WebSocket APIs.
  • Optimize critical rendering paths for component-heavy pages under varying network conditions.
  • Own the design and refinement of a custom internal design system—no Bootstrap or Tailwind crutches.
  • Develop and enforce structured state management strategies (e.g., Zustand, Redux Toolkit) to handle volatile app state.
  • Lead performance audits using tools like Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and Chrome DevTools Protocol, followed by real remediation.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to define SSR/Edge rendering strategies via Next.js with fallback hydration plans.
  • Write and maintain complex integration tests using Playwright, including mocking real-time interactions.

Required Experience

  • 4+ years experience with modern JavaScript (ES2020+), TypeScript, and React in production-scale environments.
  • Deep understanding of browser internals, including layout/reflow/repaint cycles, event delegation, and memory profiling.
  • Experience building component libraries or headless UI systems from scratch—not just consuming them.
  • Familiarity with content delivery strategies, including stale-while-revalidate caching, edge functions, and CDN-invalidation patterns.
  • Experience handling partial failures gracefully in distributed systems (e.g., fallback UIs when WebSocket streams break).

Bonus Points

  • Built and deployed a PWA with offline capabilities and background sync.
  • Contributed to or maintained a monorepo using Nx or Turborepo.
  • Experience with feature flagging platforms (e.g., LaunchDarkly) and gradual rollout strategies.
  • Exposure to accessibility auditing tools and inclusive interface design beyond ARIA checklists.
  • Previous experience in a regulated industry where audit logs and deterministic behavior mattered.
