Job Description
We’re looking for a Web Engineer who thinks in systems and ships with precision. This role is ideal for someone who’s comfortable with JavaScript frameworks (preferably Next.js), knows how to optimize performance beyond Lighthouse scores, and isn’t afraid of diving into browser APIs, edge infrastructure, or legacy refactors. You’ll work closely with designers and backend engineers to bring product features to life on our marketing site, internal dashboards, and customer portal.
You won’t just be writing code—you’ll be improving how our frontends are built, deployed, and measured. Expect to touch CDN configurations, analyze Core Web Vitals, and lead architectural decisions around hydration strategies, routing models, and component abstraction.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, test, and maintain performant frontend experiences using React/Next.js.
- Own implementation of frontend features from concept to production—often with minimal handoff documents.
- Design and maintain internal component libraries with accessibility, reusability, and developer ergonomics in mind.
- Integrate frontend systems with GraphQL/REST APIs and handle edge cases like error states, loading fallbacks, and client persistence.
- Lead debugging efforts on client-side bugs and performance regressions.
- Set up and maintain CI workflows for linting, testing, and performance budgets.
- Contribute to internal tooling to support design-to-code workflows.
- Participate in architectural discussions around caching, routing, and rendering strategies (SSR, ISR, static export).
- Audit third-party scripts and integrations for performance, compliance, and reliability.
Qualifications
Required:
- 4+ years of experience in web engineering or frontend-focused roles.
- Deep understanding of React, ideally with experience in server-side rendering via Next.js.
- Experience with TypeScript, modern CSS architecture (e.g., CSS Modules, Tailwind), and component-based development.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues at the network, rendering, and JavaScript execution layers.
- Strong Git habits and comfort working in feature-branch workflows with CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with headless CMSs (e.g., Sanity, Contentful) and static site generation.
- Experience configuring CDN behavior and cache policies (e.g., with Vercel, Cloudflare).
Nice to Have:
- Contributions to design systems or open source frontend tooling.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and testing tools like axe-core.
- Prior experience in analytics/event instrumentation (e.g., Segment, GA4, PostHog).
