Job Description

We’re looking for a proactive System Administrator with sharp instincts for systems stability and a strong sense of responsibility for business continuity. This isn’t a routine helpdesk position—we need someone who can take charge of our hybrid infrastructure, optimize server performance, and troubleshoot issues across cloud and on-prem environments. You’ll work on projects ranging from migrating legacy systems to automating routine admin tasks with scripts. Your work directly impacts team productivity, cybersecurity posture, and service uptime across departments.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving infrastructure puzzles and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where you’re the go-to for everything from patch cycles to building out new internal tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Windows and Linux-based servers, including patch management, security hardening, and capacity planning
  • Administer and support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Exchange Online
  • Oversee backup strategies (we use Veeam and AWS S3), conduct restore tests monthly
  • Monitor infrastructure health using tools like Zabbix, Nagios, or Prometheus; address performance bottlenecks before they escalate
  • Implement and refine automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python to reduce manual workload
  • Coordinate OS and software updates across a mixed environment with minimal disruption
  • Collaborate with DevOps to maintain CI/CD pipelines and staging environments
  • Provide Tier 3 support for escalated technical issues
  • Participate in security audits, ensure systems comply with internal and external controls (SOC 2 readiness in progress)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field—or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 4–6 years of experience administering mid-to-large scale systems infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (Hyper-V and/or VMware), storage management, and networking fundamentals (VLANs, subnets, firewalls)
  • Proficient in scripting for automation and task orchestration (e.g., PowerShell, Python)
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or SCCM)
  • Familiarity with security principles and tools (endpoint protection, MFA, least privilege enforcement)
  • Hands-on experience managing Microsoft 365/Azure AD environments
  • Comfortable working under change control processes and with ticket-based workflow systems (Jira, ServiceNow)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or RHCSA
  • Experience in hybrid cloud environments (AWS or Azure)
  • Background in disaster recovery planning and documentation
