Job Description
We are seeking a Scrum Master with hands-on experience guiding product and engineering teams through complex platform builds, data-heavy environments, and compliance-sensitive releases. This role requires more than just ceremony facilitation — you’ll be expected to coach product owners in backlog readiness, enforce WIP limits, resolve sprint-level blockers, and improve velocity stability. Our teams follow Scrum and Kanban hybrid models, and the ideal candidate is confident switching between frameworks depending on context without dogma. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, API-first development, and enterprise integration dependencies is key.
The role will support two cross-functional squads focused on rebuilding legacy financial tools into scalable, cloud-native solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide 2+ Scrum teams with a total of ~15 engineers and 2 product owners.
- Proactively identify delivery risks and escalate misalignments across dependencies early.
- Maintain sprint health through velocity tracking, burndown accuracy, and scope discipline.
- Lead quarterly team retrospectives with measurable follow-through actions.
- Partner with the Release Manager to align sprints with release cadences and risk windows.
- Support the transition of new teams from waterfall to Agile, focusing on cultural and procedural changes.
- Champion sustainable delivery habits, avoiding burnout while keeping roadmaps on track.
- Help Product Owners sharpen backlog quality, acceptance criteria, and refinement cycles.
- Serve as the team’s Jira and Confluence power user — no reliance on admin support.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of full-time experience as a Scrum Master in software product organizations (not IT-only environments).
- Strong track record working with platform engineering, backend APIs, and/or data infrastructure teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage remote-first teams with distributed time zones.
- Comfortable coaching teams on Agile metrics like flow efficiency, lead time, and story readiness.
- Proven ability to defuse conflict between delivery stakeholders and technical contributors.
- Familiarity with regulatory or compliance-bound environments (e.g., fintech, healthcare, edtech).
- Advanced Jira user; capable of configuring boards, automations, and dashboards without assistance.
- Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I/II) required. SAFe experience is a plus, but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field preferred.
