Job Description
We are looking for a highly detail-oriented Production Artist with a sharp eye for layout precision and brand consistency. This role goes beyond simply cleaning up files—you will work alongside art directors and designers to ensure that final deliverables are pixel-perfect, print-ready, and optimized for multiple platforms. You’ll play a critical role in translating concepts into scalable assets, resolving file discrepancies, managing version control, and ensuring technical standards are met without sacrificing design integrity. The ideal candidate thrives under tight deadlines, has a deep understanding of prepress and digital requirements, and isn’t afraid to push back when something feels off-spec.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate design files into accurate, mechanically sound production-ready assets for both print and digital output (OOH, social, packaging, e-comm, POS, etc.).
- Ensure brand consistency across all materials by meticulously applying brand guidelines, templates, and type specifications.
- Perform layout adjustments, versioning, resizing, and localization while maintaining visual hierarchy and legibility.
- Collaborate with designers, copywriters, and project managers to align on deliverable specs, timelines, and approvals.
- Conduct thorough preflight checks including resolution, color profiles, bleed, trim, and dielines.
- Manage file organization and naming conventions across platforms like Dropbox, Adobe CC libraries, and cloud servers.
- Prepare final files for release to vendors or internal development teams, including packaging for print or optimizing for web.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in files—fonts, links, corrupt elements, and style inconsistencies.
- Maintain an up-to-date asset archive with a clear version history and track revisions.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
- 3+ years of experience as a production artist in an agency, in-house creative team, or print vendor environment.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
- Solid knowledge of print production standards, including CMYK vs. RGB workflows, spot colors, overprint settings, trapping, and imposition.
- Familiarity with digital specs for web, social, and mobile platforms (file types, compression, and resolution).
- Comfort working across both Mac and PC platforms.
- Strong typographic and layout sensibilities with the ability to spot kerning and alignment issues at a glance.
- Experience working with packaging files that include dielines, barcodes, and legal copy.
- Exceptional organizational and file hygiene skills—nothing leaves your hands unchecked.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience using Figma, Sketch, or XD for digital production tasks.
- Familiarity with motion or video deliverables (static overlays, lower thirds, etc.).
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., ADA contrast requirements for digital).
- Previous work with localization or multi-language asset versions.
Soft Skills
- Comfortable asking questions, flagging inconsistencies, and pushing back on incomplete specs.
- Able to juggle multiple projects with competing deadlines without losing attention to detail.
- Works calmly under pressure with a “measure twice, release once” mentality.
- Approaches repetitive tasks with consistency and discipline.
