Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Packaging Designer with experience creating structurally sound, visually distinctive, and brand-aligned packaging across retail, DTC, and e-commerce channels. This role requires deep understanding of dielines, materials, print production processes, and regulatory compliance for consumer packaging—especially in industries with shelf competition and strict labeling standards (e.g., cosmetics, food & beverage, or electronics).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute innovative structural and graphic packaging designs that elevate product presence and align with brand identity.
  • Create production-ready dielines and technical files using Illustrator, Esko ArtiosCAD, or equivalent tools.
  • Collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing, and logistics teams to ensure packaging feasibility, cost-efficiency, and sustainability targets.
  • Conduct press checks (virtually or in person) and liaise directly with packaging suppliers to ensure accurate print reproduction and color fidelity.
  • Maintain fluency in packaging compliance requirements (e.g., FDA, FSC, Prop 65, recycling labeling), and implement them in design work without compromising aesthetics.
  • Design for multiple materials including rigid boxes, folding cartons, flexible packaging, blister packs, and molded pulp.
  • Conduct drop testing, unboxing analysis, and structural prototyping to ensure durability and user experience integrity.
  • Translate complex brand narratives and product features into intuitive, consumer-friendly packaging hierarchies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or a closely related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience specifically in packaging design (not general graphic design), ideally in a consumer product company or packaging firm.
  • Proven proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop; familiarity with Esko or CAD software is a strong plus.
  • Deep understanding of printing methods (offset, flexo, digital, rotogravure) and surface finishes (UV, foil stamping, embossing/debossing, soft-touch).
  • Experience designing within sustainability frameworks (e.g., mono-material strategies, recyclability, lightweighting).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of packaging projects with emphasis on technical accuracy and market impact.
  • Excellent communication skills to present concepts to cross-functional stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple timelines and workstreams without sacrificing attention to detail.
