About the Role:
Reporting to the Mine Operations Controller, the Underground Operations Engineer plays a critical role in executing the mine plan and supporting daily operational performance. Working within the Mining Team, you will coordinate day-to-day activities underground, manage contractor performance, and ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Mining Team to implement and manage the daily and weekly mine plan.
- Liaise directly with underground supervisors and contractors to ensure targets are met safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and report on key mining physicals: development advance, stope production, drilling progress, and cycle times.
- Ensure contractor activities align with safety, production, and compliance expectations.
- Drive improvement in daily operations through data-driven insights and collaboration.
- Support operational planning meetings, shift handovers, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to short-term scheduling and planning processes as required.
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years’ underground hard rock experience — ideally with or alongside major contractors
- Strong understanding of underground development and production methods.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with operational and contractor teams.
- Experience using mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac) and production tracking systems.
- Strong safety focus and a drive for operational excellence.
