Job Description

We’re looking for a Logo Designer who thrives on creative constraints and understands how brand identity begins with a mark that communicates without saying a word. This role is not about tossing together trendy glyphs—it’s about capturing a brand’s core through clever symbolism, balanced composition, and design precision. You’ll work directly with brand strategists and founders to translate early-stage ideas into timeless visual anchors.

You’ll be designing logos for a range of clients—from stealth tech startups to bold consumer-facing ventures—each with unique positioning, personality, and ambitions. The ability to defend your design decisions, simplify complex ideas, and show taste that leans toward timeless over trendy is crucial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with creative directors, brand strategists, and founders to extract key brand insights before concepting.
  • Translate positioning, audience, and tone into distinct logo marks, wordmarks, and hybrid solutions.
  • Develop 3–5 logo concepts with rationale, not just visuals.
  • Refine and iterate logos based on internal and client feedback, maintaining strategic alignment.
  • Create logo lockups, spacing guides, and scalable vector files for various use cases.
  • Present work confidently in both visual form and verbal walkthroughs.
  • Stay aware of evolving logo trends while intentionally designing for longevity.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience designing logos as a core part of your portfolio. Branding agency or startup studio experience is preferred.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing identity work, including wordmarks, monograms, abstract marks, and grid-aligned executions.
  • Deep understanding of form, negative space, typographic customization, and scalability.
  • Ability to explain your work—what each shape, angle, and decision means in relation to the brand.
  • Fluency in Illustrator and Figma. Bonus if you can animate logos using After Effects or similar tools.
  • Comfortable with critique loops and navigating ambiguity in early brand phases.
  • Strong research habits; you don’t start drawing until you’ve understood the audience and landscape.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines while maintaining craft.

Bonus

  • Experience working with naming agencies or participating in naming + logo development loops.
  • Familiarity with type foundries and a point of view on custom vs. licensed typography in marks.
  • Ability to design basic brand extensions (icon sets, launch visuals, etc.)
