Job Description
We’re not looking for someone who just “makes logos.” We’re looking for someone who dissects brands, finds the non-obvious entry point, and builds identity systems from that insight outward. If you’re the kind of designer who asks, “Why does this brand exist, and what do people feel when they see it?” before opening Illustrator, this role might be for you.
This is not a junior production role — this is a creative partnership. You’ll work closely with our strategists, writers, and product designers to translate brand positioning into visual language with range and intent.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Concept and design custom logos that anchor full identity systems — not just isolated marks.
- Lead visual discovery sessions with clients or internal stakeholders to extract brand narratives and tone.
- Develop multiple visual directions based on strategy, not just aesthetics, and guide stakeholders through them.
- Create brand systems including color palettes, typography recommendations, iconography, motion treatments, and usage guidelines.
- Build scalable assets and guidelines for product, print, and environmental use (you should know what a logo looks like on a 16px favicon and on a 12-foot banner).
- Collaborate with motion designers, product teams, and copywriters to ensure cohesion across mediums.
You Have:
- A portfolio with 5–7 distinct logo/identity projects, each tied to a clear strategic or narrative foundation (not just “this looked cool”).
- At least 3 years of experience in a brand studio or in-house creative team, ideally with exposure to both consumer and B2B brands.
- Experience presenting and defending creative rationale to non-designers (you know when to push and when to adapt).
- Command of typography, composition, negative space, and how logos behave at different scales.
- A conceptual mind — you’re not afraid to throw out three good ideas in pursuit of a great one.
- Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Figma. Bonus if you have working knowledge of After Effects or 3D rendering software.
Extra Credit If You:
- Have experience creating logo systems with dynamic components (e.g., generative marks, responsive logos, or kinetic identity).
- Can write clear, sharp explanations of your design decisions.
- Know how to build flexible logo lockups for multilingual or international contexts.
- Have experience in naming, brand voice, or editorial design.
