Job Description

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer who thrives in high-stakes environments and enjoys solving infrastructure challenges at scale. This role is ideal for someone who has deep experience designing and automating cloud-native infrastructure using AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes—and who understands the trade-offs between speed, security, and cost-efficiency. You will work closely with DevOps, Security, and Software Engineering to design fault-tolerant systems that support microservices, data platforms, and CI/CD pipelines. This is not a “click-ops” role—we’re looking for an engineer who treats infrastructure as code and believes that repeatability and observability are non-negotiable.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement cloud infrastructure solutions using AWS services (e.g., EKS, IAM, VPC, CloudFront, S3, Lambda, etc.) with a focus on automation and scalability.
  • Design and manage Kubernetes clusters using EKS; configure autoscaling, service mesh integrations, and custom admission controllers.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code using Terraform (with proper modularization, environment separation, and state management).
  • Own CI/CD tooling for infrastructure deployments and work with engineering to containerize applications efficiently.
  • Partner with Security to implement least-privilege IAM roles, automate compliance reporting, and manage secret rotation across services.
  • Design observability solutions, including logging (e.g., Fluent Bit, OpenSearch), metrics (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana), and distributed tracing (e.g., AWS X-Ray, OpenTelemetry).
  • Lead postmortem investigations and contribute to blameless incident retrospectives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal documentation and best practices.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, including advanced networking, IAM policies, and cost governance.
  • 3+ years of production experience managing Kubernetes clusters (EKS preferred), including debugging networking (CNI), pod scheduling, and Helm chart customization.
  • Strong proficiency in Terraform, including writing reusable modules, managing remote backends, and enforcing policies using Sentinel or OPA.
  • Proficient in containerization workflows using Docker and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of security best practices (e.g., Zero Trust, TLS cert management, secrets handling).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability stacks, including Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and OpenTelemetry.

Preferred:

  • Experience implementing service mesh (e.g., Istio, Linkerd) and Kubernetes ingress controllers (e.g., NGINX, ALB).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Go, or Bash for automation tasks.
  • Exposure to cloud cost optimization strategies using tools like CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer, or custom tagging.
  • Background in supporting data infrastructure (Kafka, EMR, or Snowflake) in a cloud-native context.
  • AWS certification (Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer) is a plus.
