Job Description
About the Role
You’re not just here to “oversee visual assets.” You’re here to define the tone, emotion, and ambition of every campaign and touchpoint. As our Art Director, you’ll lead the conceptual and visual development of campaigns across film, social, print, digital, and emerging formats. You’ll be both a critic and a collaborator, guiding a tight-knit creative team from the spark of a storyboard to the delivery of final assets.
What You’ll Actually Do
- Lead visual concept development for campaigns—think moodboards, motion direction, set aesthetics, type systems, not just slides and slogans
- Translate strategy into visual worlds: you should be able to digest a creative brief and return with something the client didn’t know they needed
- Direct photo, film, and CGI shoots—you’re comfortable working with stylists, set designers, DPs, and post teams, knowing how to get the most out of them
- Partner with copywriters, strategists, and motion designers to build concepts that aren’t siloed but holistically designed experiences
- Review and mentor a small team of designers and illustrators—push the work, not just the pixels
- Maintain visual consistency and excellence across multiple formats without defaulting to templates
- Present to clients with confidence, clarity, and without falling back on buzzwords
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years in design and/or art direction roles, with 2+ years leading creative projects
- A portfolio that shows range, not just polish—experimental layouts, set direction, bold typographic moves, motion ideas, and real-world executions
- Hands-on proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma; bonus for Cinema 4D, After Effects, or AI image tools (as a starting point, not a crutch)
- Experience directing shoots and collaborating with production partners, from casting to color grading
- You’re not married to “safe” and know when to challenge internal assumptions or client expectations
- Strong taste. It’s intangible, but we’ll know it when we see your work.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with branding for cultural or mission-driven clients (fashion, music, social causes)
- An ability to write or contribute to narrative threads, headlines, or creative treatments
- A hybrid background across agency, in-house, or studio settings
