Animator

Job Description

We’re looking for a detail-obsessed Animator who can turn direction into motion, and emotion into frames. You’ll be the link between storyboards and final visuals—bringing energy, timing, and nuance to everything from character expressions to product explainer videos. You’ll work closely with illustrators, creative directors, and developers to craft animations that aren’t just smooth, but say something. Whether it’s a subtle blink or a high-impact product interaction, you know how to make every movement count.

This role is ideal for someone who lives in the space between illustration and timing, someone who can push keyframes with intention—not just to make things move, but to make them feel right.

Key Responsibilities:

• Animate characters, UI elements, and motion graphics for digital campaigns, explainer videos, and product walkthroughs
• Translate storyboards into frame-by-frame or rigged animations with a deep understanding of pacing, weight, and expression
• Collaborate with illustrators to prep layered assets for animation (e.g., rigging puppets, breaking down limbs, prepping mouths for lip sync)
• Propose animation treatments during the concept phase—your ideas influence direction, not just execution
• Optimize animations for various platforms (web, social, product) without sacrificing intent or quality
• Work with developers to ensure animations integrate seamlessly into builds (experience exporting via Lottie or similar is a plus)
• Provide thoughtful critiques in reviews, always with the goal of elevating the motion across the team

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of professional animation experience, ideally within a creative studio or product team
• Advanced proficiency in After Effects; experience with frame-by-frame animation using Photoshop or Procreate is a plus
• Strong sense of timing, spacing, and anticipation (you read “The Animator’s Survival Kit” for fun)
• Experience with character animation (not just bouncing icons or morphing blobs)
• Familiarity with rigging and puppet tools (e.g., Duik, RubberHose, Joysticks ‘n Sliders)
• Ability to work with feedback—open, collaborative, and willing to push for the best version
